Bonnie the Cow: Free Crochet Cow Plushie Pattern

I may be late to the trend but when my little sister told me that strawberry cows were a big deal on TikTok, I just loved the idea and had to make myself a crochet cow plushie! These turned out so cute and I love how easy it is to take the same pattern and switch up the colors and make a different version. These little plush cows also inspired me to make a line of more farm buddies, so I’ll have a few more patterns in the series soon. For now, let’s moo-ve on to the plushie pattern!

Meet Bonnie, Bea, and Bess the Benjamin sisters! My family always called me and my two sisters “The Benjamin sisters” after a Pakistani singing group since we were always together. It was this joke with all my aunts that the Benjamin sisters are here, but since I moved away, I miss my sisters all the time. When I made these three plushies, they really made me think of the three of us.

They all follow the exactly same patterns, but I used different colors for the chocolate cow and the strawberry cow.

SC, 2HDC, 2HDC, (DC, HDC), SC, HDC, 2HDC, 2DC, (DC, HDC), SC, SC, HDC, (HDC, SC), SC 5, 3HDC in last space. BO and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail:

Hold two strands of white together and chain 11. Turn, and SC along the row. BO and leave a tail for sewing it onto the body. Cut a few lengths of black yarn about 4 inches long, fold in half, and pull through the end of the tail with your hook. Bring the ends through the loop and pull to tighten. Trim the yarn to the length you want.

Assembly:

Now that we have all the pieces done let’s start assembling this crochet cow pattern! First, add stuffing to the arms, legs, body, and snout.

Start adding the features to the head. Use the tail yarn on the horns and a tapestry needle to sew the horns onto the head going through each of the spaces at the base of the horn. Fold the ears in half and sew them to the sides of the head. Use the tail yarn on the snout to sew the snout onto the face.

Next, use the tail yarn of the body and a tapestry needle to sew the head onto the body. Be sure to go through all the spaces of the body and a corresponding stitch in the head to make sure it doesn’t wobble. Then, sew the legs onto either side of the body going through both sides of the leg and a space on the body.

Repeat for the arms.

Place the spots on the body where you want them and sew them in place with the tail yarn. Finally, sew the tail to the back of the body and weave in all the ends. Trim the excess yarn to finish and you are done!
