Alexei the Polar Bear: Free Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

Hello, friends, and welcome to another pattern! I am excited about today’s especially because it’s the first of this year’s Christmas and winter patterns. I loved the toys I created around this time last year, and I’m super excited to share these new ones with you too. So let’s get on with the free crochet amigurumi pattern for Alexei the Polar Bear!

Free Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

Alexei is a homebody. He loves to curl up in his cave and drink hot cocoa by the fire, maybe even read a good book. He’s never really too bothered about going to events and parties, but he’ll always make an exception for his friends. Sometimes it’s so hard to find a time when everyone is free and all together, but Christmas time is always for them. When Ollie and Ronald and the rest of the gang come to town, Alexei wraps himself up in his best blue scarf so they can see him better and they all have the best time. Alexei especially loves starting snowball fights and building amazing ice forts with his friends!

Assembly

With all the polar bear pieces made, all that’s left of this free crochet amigurumi pattern is to assemble!

Position the ears on the head, using pins to hold them in place if you need to. Then using the tail yarn and a tapestry needle, sew them onto the head. Position the snout onto the face, slightly below the eyes and use the tail yarn to sew it into place as well.

Next, align the legs to the body and use the tails to sew them into place going through both layers of the leg and a corresponding space on the body. Then attach the arms the same ways as the legs.

Then, use the tail yarn from the body to attach the head. It helps to pin it in place so it doesn’t move around. Simply go through each stitch on the body and a corresponding space on the head. Then secure the yarn and hide the tail inside the head. Finally, sew the tail onto the back of the body and secure the yarn. Trim the excess and weave in any loose ends.
