Gnorma the Gnome: Free Crochet Plushie Pattern

Today’s pattern is for Gnorma the Gnome to go along with our last pattern, Gnorman! These crochet gnomes are so cute to me and I love coming up with a little story for them. You guys really liked the pattern for Gnorman, so I hope you also love Gnorma as well. Let’s hop right into the free crochet plushie pattern!

Gnorma married the love of her life and her best friend when she married Gnorman. She had a great time adventuring when she was younger, but now her favorite thing is when her kids and grandkids come to visit. She gets to make them all their favorite treats and watch the kids run around the garden, helping Gnorman tend to the plants. She loves having all her family crammed into their little cottage and going on walks that feel like adventures close to home.

Gnorma the Gnome: Free Crochet Plushie Pattern

This free crochet plushie pattern for Gnorma is really easy to make and she works up in just a few hours. For Gnorma, I decided to give her a little skirt and brightly colored clothes instead of the usual browns and forest colors. For this pattern, I also used a thick fleecy yarn for the hair just because that’s what I had and I liked how it looked. If you want though, regular worsted weight yarn works great too!

Hair:

Start by cutting strips of the thicker yarn to twice the length you want the hair to be. Cut about 30-35 strips.

Row 1: With the thicker yarn, chain 18.

Row 2: Turn, and insert your hook into the second space from the hook. Drape 2 of the cut strips over the hook, YO with the working yarn, and complete the SC as normal. This traps the strips into the stitch and makes the long hair. Continuing working SC stitches to the end of the row, trapping 1-2 pieces of yarn as you go. BO and leave a long tail for sewing.

Trim the hair to the same length for a neat finish.

Assembly

Now that you have all the pieces for your gnome crochet plushie pattern done, it’s time to assemble and finish making Gnorma!

Start by sewing the nose onto the center of the face with the tail yarn we left. Then, use the tail end of the hair and a tapestry needle with a wide eye to sew the hair around the top of the head. She may have a bald spot but the hat will cover it! Secure the yarn and trim the tail so it’s the same length as the hair. Tie the hair into

Then align the arms on either side of the body and sew them into place as well.

Next, sew the body onto the head, placing it so it doesn’t wobble. Finally, add on the hat to finish her off. Just sew it down in a few places with the tail yarn and make sure that the edge of the hat goes down to the nose and covers where her eyes would be.

Optionally, you can embroider on some eyes as well.
